Omega movements from the 1950s to the 1980s rank among the finest in Swiss watchmaking. The 552 calibre (Seamaster) is a reliable, accurate and easily serviced piece of mechanics.
The 561 calibre, fitted in the Constellation chronometer, illustrates Omega's quest for precision: pink rhodium-plated finish, 24 jewels, chronometric adjustment in five positions.
For slimness and reliability, the 1012 calibre remains a benchmark in the automatic Seamaster and Genève of the 1970s.
The 1022 calibre, a direct evolution of the 1012, is prized for its robustness and how easily it is serviced at the workshop.
A market value on a steady rise
Over the past ten years, vintage Omega prices have risen steadily. An automatic Seamaster from the 1960s that sold for €400 in 2015 is now worth €800 to €1,200. The "Pie Pan" Constellations have followed the same trajectory.
